Gardening - slow learner
More slow gardening - pruning, less puffing and panting

Cuttings - good, what's BAD?

64A602C0-DA31-422D-A902-BFE29B07B20FSunday is meant to be a day of rest. But with guests tonight, I was despatched to do a last minute shop for those essentials . It was then time for slow gardening - I am learning! With spare compost, lots of pots and lots of cutting material, I cleared the bench in the lean-to. Pots were filled, cuttings prepared and planted. No gasping, or crumping in a heap on a garden bench. Hurrah. Whether any of the cuttings will take is a slow process too. But I'm a great believer in trying. This season I have little to show from my efforts in the autumn, except a hydrangea. (taken from the one in the photo) Nature itself is far more prolific. We have a fan palm bought 29 years ago as a seedling. Today it is over 20 feet tall and produces vast qualtities of seeds. Our borders are littered with new palms which show as a single leaf.  One of them is now showing six leaves - a good clue to its age. So it has been lifted and potted up as well. As for my day the slow gardening was very satisfying, but my body was not quite right. Bowel twinges while shopping signalled a risk. I call them BAD (Bad Arse Day). And so it proved. Nothing to do but stay calm, stay close and rest up. Entertaining guests, enough said. BAD continues.......
